Chairman nabbed for posing as cop

KAJANG: A 40-year-old chairman of an association was detained for allegedly impersonating a policeman.

Kajang OCPD Asst Comm Mohd Zaid Hassan said the man was detained on Friday.

“A senior police officer from the Kajang headquarters received a WhatsApp message showing a picture and video of a few individuals from an association conducting what appeared to be duties of policemen.

“A police report was lodged as the group acted on their own without the supervision of the police, ” he said yesterday.

ACP Mohd Zaid said an investigation paper was opened and the man was subsequently detained.

“We are still tracking down members of the association to assist with investigations.

“Anyone with information on the viral photo and video should contact the nearest police station as soon as possible, ” he said.
