ISKANDAR PUTERI: The General Operations Force (GOF) have confiscated smuggled liquor worth RM121,000 during a patrol at a mall parking lot in Gelang Patah, here.
GOF Fifth Battalion commanding officer Supt Dimin Awang said a 33-year-old man was also arrested at the location.
"A patrol team from the GOF Fifth Battalion was conducting a patrol under Ops Benteng at the mall when they noticed a man in a suspicious condition at about 10.55am on Wednesday (Jan 20).
"Upon inspection, the team found 178 cartons of contraband liquor stored inside three vehicles namely a Proton Exora, Proton Iswara and Proton Gen 2," he said in a statement here.
He added that the suspect along with the confiscated items was then handed over to the Iskandar Puteri District Police for further action.
"We would like to encourage members of the public to continue channelling in information to the police to eradicate any illegal activities," said Supt Dimin.
The case is investigated under Section 135 of the Customs Act 1967 for possessing or selling of smuggled items.
