All Cabinet members ordered to take Covid-19 tests, says Health Minister

PUTRAJAYA: All Cabinet members have been ordered to take Covid-19 swab tests as a precautionary measure after two ministers were infected with the virus recently.

Health Minister Datuk Seri Dr Adham Baba said the ministers will also be assessed on whether they need to be isolated based on a risk assessment by the ministry.

"In the case of the Cabinet members, we have ordered the ministers to take swab tests.

"The Putrajaya district health office will undergo a risk assessment.

"They will come out with the guidelines on whether further actions need to be taken by the Cabinet members," said Dr Adham to reporters after an event here.

Women, Family and Community Development Minister Datuk Seri Rina Mohd Harun tested positive for Covid-19 and was admitted into Hospital Sungai Buloh at 11am on Monday (Jan 11).

This followed news on Sunday (Jan 10) that Datuk Seri Mustapa Mohamad, the Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department, had tested positive for Covid-19 on Saturday (Jan 9).

Following which, Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department Datuk Seri Mohd Redzuan Md Yusof and Communications and Multimedia Minister Datuk Saifuddin Abdullah confirmed that they have been identified as close contacts to Mustapa and were self-isolating.
