Visitors continue to seize opportunities at The Star Education Fair 2021's final hours

GEORGE TOWN: With just hours to go before The Star Education Fair 2021 comes to end at the Setia SPICE Convention Centre, last-minute visitors are seizing opportunities to enquire about offerings by various academies, colleges and universities.

While most lessons are now conducted online, many parents and their children were keen to ask about packages and rebates on offer provided by the educators at the fair.

The exhibitors, who are hands-on at their booths with strict standard operating procedure compliance, are ready to cater to those needing new insight regarding further education in the wake of the Covid-19 pandemic.

Not only that, free talks are being held throughout the day.

The lineup on Sunday (Jan 10) will see Multimedia University Prof Dr Mohamad Yusoff Alias speak about "Engineering IR 4.0" from 11.30am to noon, followed by University of Nottingham Prof Andy Chan who will answer "What Do Engineers Do Nowadays?" at 12.15pm.

The 1pm to 1.30pm slot will see Monash University Malaysia Associate Prof Amin Talei talk about how "One Man’s Magic is Another Man’s Engineering".

Management and Science University has the 1.45pm slot where Choo Seok Hong will tell you "The Importance of Technology and the Integration of Information Technology in Business and Science".

The 2.30pm slot will have Ivan Ong from Interstudy Education Consultants talking about "UK Study Opportunities".

From 3.15pm to 3.45pm Dr Teh Peh Chiong from Universiti Tunku Abdul Rahman will touch on "Enhancing Electronics Graduate Employability and Career Growth Through Work-Based Learning Approach".

The 4pm slot will see Peninsula College Malaysia Prof Dr Ian Robert Pashby share "Essential Graduate Skills for Success In a Rapidly Changing World".

Dr Iman Farshchi from Mahsa University will speak about "Sustainable Engineering - Are You Game For It?" at 4.45pm.

Rounding up the day, Malaysia-Japan International Institute of Technology’s dean Prof Dr Ali Selamat will share "The Five Japanese Tips to Become A World-Class Engineer" from 5.30pm to 6pm.

A bonus for parents is that The Star Education Fair 2021 will be held alongside the Perfect Livin Expo, a one-stop centre for home-owners to find fantastic deals on furniture and home appliances.

The Star Education Fair 2021, which is the 34rd to be held since its inception in 1987, is organised by I.Star Events Sdn Bhd, a subsidiary of Star Media Group Berhad.

Held at Hall Four of Setia SPICE Convention Centre, the fair is open from 11am to 7pm on Saturday (Jan 9) and Sunday (Jan 10).

Admission is free.
