PETALING JAYA: The enhanced MCO at the Langkap Immigration Depot will end on Sunday (Jan 3), says Senior Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob.
"The government had originally announced the enhanced MCO at the depot and staff quarters there in Hilir Perak until Jan 14.
“The Health Ministry has completed its testing on all detainees and staff.
"The ministry has confirmed that positive cases are on a downward trend and that no other samples are pending their results. Acting on their advice, the government has agreed to end the enhanced MCO at the Langkap Immigration Depot today," he said in a statement.
Meanwhile, two districts in Kelantan have been placed under the conditional MCO.
The Peringkat and Kota districts in Kota Baru will be under conditional MCO from Jan 4 until Jan 17 due to the increase of cases there.
"The two districts have contributed to the highest number of cases due to the two main clusters - the Halban and the Pintu Geng clusters.
"The conditional MCO is to allow the Health Ministry to conduct targeted testing and to reduce movement within the community in those two districts," he said.
On Ops Benteng, the authorities arrested 43 illegal immigrants on Saturday (Jan 2).
Around 422 people were issued compounds for not adhering to standard operating procedures (SOP). Another 12 were remanded.
