KUALA LUMPUR: Compounds were issued to 1,352 people while 32 others were remanded and four issued bail for violating the recovery movement control order on New Year’s Day.
Senior Minister (Security) Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob said in total, action was taken against 1,388 individuals on Friday.
“Among the offences were taking part in activities at entertainment centres, failure to maintain physical distancing and not wearing face masks.
“The compliance operation task force conducted 48,316 checks nationwide, including at 3,371 supermarkets, 4,465 restaurants and 3,251 banks, ” he said in a statement yesterday.
On Ops Benteng, 95 undocumented immigrants were detained on Friday, he added.
“The authorities conducted 105 roadblocks nationwide.
Ismail Sabri also said that 96,312 individuals had returned to Malaysia since July 24.
“A total of 7,547 people are still undergoing mandatory quarantine at 76 hotels, 16 public training institutes and institutions of higher learning; 540 people were sent to hospitals for treatment while 88,225 have been discharged, ” he added.
