KUALA LUMPUR: A cyberattack on the data network belonging to the Malaysian Armed Forces (MAF) had occurred.
However, the attack on Monday failed to disrupt MAF portal’s operation.
Its chief Tan Sri Affendi Buang said the MAF was always ready in terms of cybersecurity to ensure that any threat to disrupt its communication could be detected early and thwarted.
“We confirmed that there was a cyberattack on the data network belonging to the MAF.
“The incident was detected by the Cyber and Electromagnetic Defence division as well as by the Cyber Defence Operation Centre (CDOC).
“As soon as the attack occurred, both the division and CDOC isolated data traffic to mask the real location of crucial data and protect the network targeted by the hackers, ” he said in a statement yesterday.
The MAF was also aware that there were cyberattack attempts on the network owned by the Defence Ministry and MAF, he added.
