REE mining requires EIA report approval


THE Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) report for the exploration of rare earth elements (REE) in Kedah will be studied meticulously to ensure environmental sustainability, says Datuk Seri Tuan Ibrahim Tuan Man.

The Environment and Water Minister said all mining activities were under the Environmental Quality (Prescribed Activities) EIA Order 2015, which requires project developers or any parties that want to be involved in it to submit an EIA report to the Department of Environment (DOE) for approval.
