PETALING JAYA: “We’ve found him!” were the sweetest words to social activist Kuan Chee Heng’s ears after hearing that Robert Low Kon Fatt (pic) – an elderly man reported missing earlier – had been found.
Kuan, founder of the Selangor-based NGO Community Policing Malaysia, then rushed with his team to Rembau, Negri Sembilan.
“We found Low safe in his car, ” said Kuan, a former policeman popularly known as Uncle Kentang after giving away potatoes to the needy.
Kuan said one his followers on social media called him at 1pm yesterday, saying they had found Low, whose daughter Sha-Ron appealed on Facebook on Tuesday for help to find her 78-year-old father.
The elderly man had left work in Kuala Lumpur on Monday to deliver some products to a client.
“He was weak but responsive and I understand that he has been sent to the Kuala Pilah hospital for observation, ” said Kuan, who had earlier reposted Low’s photo on his own Facebook page to aid the search.
Low is believed to have exited the Kajang SILK Highway before running out of fuel in Rembau.
According Sha-Ron’s post, Low left his office in Desa Petaling at 4pm on Monday. His family grew worried when he did not return by 6pm.
He became uncontactable after midnight. Just before that, he told his wife that he was still lost and his phone battery was running low.
He was found weak and dehydrated but in stable condition, she said.
