Peeping Tom slapped with RM2k fine for spying on showering neighbour


JOHOR BARU: A 24-year-old man was slapped with a fine of RM2,000 by a Magistrate’s Court here for peeping at his neighbour taking a shower.

The accused, Chung Wai Yan, pleaded guilty to peeping at the 23-year-old victim while she was in the toilet of her house in Taman Setia Indah here around 7.15am on Nov 13.

As such, the accused’s gestures were intended to insult the modesty of a person, which is an offence under Section 509 of the Penal Code, read the charge before magistrate Nurasidah A. Rahman on Thursday (Dec 3).

The case was prosecuted by Deputy Public Prosecutor Benedict Choong Kai Qi, while lawyer Jihhad Syahida Nadia Zakaria represented Chung.

Chung paid the fine.
