Eight-year-old girl among three new Covid-19 deaths on Sunday (Nov 15)

PETALING JAYA: One of the new Covid-19 fatalities on Sunday (Nov 15) was an eight-year-old girl from Sabah.

Health director-general Tan Sri Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said the girl was one of the three new Covid-19 fatalities, all from Sabah, bringing the country’s death toll to 309.

The girl died while she was being treated at Hospital Tawau.

The second death involved a 77-year-old man who had a history of high blood pressure, heart disease and kidney disease, who was admitted at the Hospital Duchess of Kent.

The third was a 63-year-old woman who had a history of diabetes, high blood pressure and kidney disease who was also admitted at the same hospital.

“The Health Ministry conveys condolences to their family members, ” said Dr Noor Hisham in a statement on Sunday.

He added that there were three new clusters that were identified.

The Plaza cluster involves the Kota Kinabalu district in Sabah, with the index case identified through a Covid-19 screening on Nov 11.

There are 12 cases that are linked to this cluster.

The Jalan Kalabakan cluster involves the Tawau district in Sabah, with the index case identified through a Covid-19 screening on Oct 31.

There are 22 cases that are linked to this cluster.

The Jeri cluster involves the Kota Tinggi, Mersing and Muar districts in Johor, with the index case identified through a Covid-19 screening at an international entry point in Singapore on Nov 6.

There are 26 cases that are linked to this cluster.

Dr Noor Hisham also said that the Bah Arnab cluster in Kuching, Sarawak has ended.

The cluster was linked to 12 Covid-19 positive cases. No deaths were recorded.
