PETALING JAYA: Opposition chief PKR president Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim hails the victory of US President-elect Joe Biden and his Vice-President-elect Kamala Harris as a win over racism and for human rights.
In a series on tweets Sunday (Nov 8), Anwar congratulated Biden and Harris for their victory in the recently concluded 2020 US Presidential elections.
"Congratulations to @JoeBiden and @KamalaHarris on winning the US Presidential elections.
"The American people have chosen unity over racism and a government that is committed to peace, defending human rights and the environment.
"Malaysia and the United States have a long history in trade and bilateral relations and it is my sincere wish for this relationship to be further strengthened together," said Anwar in his tweet.
Biden and Harris of the Democratic Party joined forces to defeat the outgoing president Donald Trump of the Republican Party.
Harris also stands to become the woman of colour to be appointed US vice-president.
