PUTRAJAYA: The marriage of a certain “Erra Fazira” had an awestruck witness in the form of Minister in the Prime Minister's Department Datuk Dr Zulkifli Mohamad Al-Bakri (pic).
The Minister in charge of religious affairs took to Facebook to congratulate Erra Fazira and her husband for the solemnisation of their marriage at the Federal Territories Islamic Religious Department (Jawi).
However, this Erra Fazira is not the famous actress and singer, but a namesake.
"The name is the same, but it is not the individual that I expected.
"I was caught by surprise at first. I thought it was the actress from the film Sembilu," Zulkifli posted on Facebook on Thursday (Nov 5).
Zulkifli said the ceremony was held while adhering to proper standard operating procedure (SOP), in accordance with the conditional movement control order (MCO) which is ongoing now in the Klang Valley.
"Congratulations to Mdm Erra Fazira and her husband on the solemnisation of their marriage earlier.
"It was held at the Jawi office and took less than 20 minutes, in adherence with the SOP set by the department.
"May this marriage be blessed by Allah and may the couple be rewarded with children who are pious," he said.
Weddings are allowed under the conditional MCO, but they are subject to a strict SOP especially with regards to the number of attendees.
In his Facebook post, Zulkifli shared wedding photos that show all those present were wearing face masks, while physical distancing was applied in the seating arrangement.
Facebook users expressed their pleasant surprise at Zulkifli's attempt at the namesake joke.
"Once in a while, Datuk makes a joke, nothing wrong with that.
"We, too, got wide-eyed reading the title, but we laughed when we found out who it actually is!
"During the conditional MCO, we should not be too serious. We should stay calm and be cheerful always," a user commented.
