MELAKA: A newborn baby was found abandoned near the roadside in Bukit Katil here, say police.
Melaka Tengah OCPD Asst Comm Afzanizar Ahmad said an individual discovered the baby boy at about 3pm on Wednesday (Nov 4) between the shrubs along Jalan Sidang Hassan 1, Bukit Katil.
The umbilical cord was still attached when the baby was rescued, he said.
The site where the baby was found is situated about 50m from residential areas.
"A 50-year-old gardener heard the wailing of a baby and he contacted the Bukit Baru police station," ACP Afzanizar said on Wednesday (Nov 4).
He said the baby was taken to Melaka Hospital where he was found to be in in a stable condition.
