PETALING JAYA: The Taman Harmoni People's Housing Project (PPR) in Sandakan, Sabah will be put under an enhanced movement control order (MCO) from Friday (Oct 23) until Nov 5.
Senior Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob said that upon the advice of the Health Ministry, the National Security Council has agreed to implement the Enhanced MCO in the area due to the rising Covid-19 cases.
"The Enhanced MCO will involve a total of 870 housing units with 4,481 residents," he said in his daily press briefing on Wednesday (Oct 21).
He said with the implementation of the Enhanced MCO, all residents are required to follow standard operating procedures.
Among them, residents will not be allowed to go out from their houses, except during emergencies such as illnesses.
"They can only go out with the permission from the police," added Ismail Sabri.
He also noted that the Health Ministry will conduct targeted Covid-19 screening on all the affected residents.
"The food distribution will be made by the state government with the coordination of the state disaster management operation centre.
"They cannot go out, so food will be distributed to them by the state government," he said.
Ismail Sabri added that enforcement will be carried out by the Police, Armed Forces, and the Malaysian Civil Defence Force, among others.
