PETALING JAYA: Consumers affected by the latest water cuts can expect water to be restored in stages but some will have to wait until Friday (Oct 23).

Of the total 1,292 affected areas, 594 areas including 260 in Kuala Selangor, 176 in Gombak, 81 in Kuala Lumpur and 47 in Klang will have water supply restored by 8am on Wednesday (Oct 21) according to a schedule published by Air Selangor on Monday (Oct 19) evening.

Come Thursday (Oct 22) 8am, 266 areas including 202 in Petaling, 32 in Kuala Lumpur and 21 in Gombak will have water supply restored.

The remaining 432 areas include Kuala Lumpur (134), Klang (122), Petaling (93) and Gombak (77) are expected to have water supply fully restored by 8am on Friday.

The full schedule can be found on Air Selangor’s website or social media accounts.

Air Selangor stated that as of 6pm on Monday, the water treatment process at the Sungai Selangor Phase 1,2, 3 and Rantau Panjang plants are operating at full output capacity to restore supply to main pipes and terminal ponds.

The latest in a series of unscheduled water cuts resulted from all four treatment plants being shut down at 2am on Oct 19 due to odour pollution caused by solvent pollution at Sungai Selangor, affecting 1,196,457 Air Selangor accounts.

The source of the pollution in the latest incident which has prevented Air Selangor from outputting the daily 2,700 million litres of water a day to the affected areas is still being investigated.

To mitigate the water disruption, 91 water tankers have been mobilised to critically affected areas with an additional 34 static water tanks, 17 local service centres (Pusat Khidmat Setempat) and 21 public pipes made available for those affected by the water cut.

Locations of public pipes and local service centres can be found here.

Meanwhile, Air Selangor has called for consumers to use water sparingly to ensure the water supply restoration process to affected areas goes smoothly.
