Conditional MCO: No 10km travel restriction, travelling within KL allowed, says Ismail Sabri

PUTRAJAYA: There is no travel restriction in Kuala Lumpur during the conditional movement control order (MCO) as it is considered as one area or district, says Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob.

The Senior Minister said people in Cheras, for instance, could travel to Bukit Bintang.

He said the 10km radius travelling limit that was implemented during the early days of the conditional MCO no longer applies.

He said the public can travel further than this provided their journey was within the district boundaries.

However, he said aside from going to work, one should only go outside to pick up essential supplies.

“But bear in mind, the travel must be to buy your necessities and not for social or other purposes.

“These areas are placed under the conditional MCO because we want to limit movement to break the chain of Covid-19 infections.

“If people are allowed to move freely, then it would defeat the purpose of imposing the order,” he said on Thursday (Oct 15).

To a question, he said for the purpose of the conditional MCO, the definition of district used was according to administrative district, and not as defined under police or health districts.

Selangor, Kuala Lumpur and Putrajaya have been placed under the conditional MCO since Oct 14 in view of the increase in Covid-19 positive cases.

Ismail said those from other states who wanted to make a journey requiring them to pass through Selangor, Kuala Lumpur and Putrajaya could download the necessary application form from the police’s official Facebook page.

After downloading the form and filling it up, they could go to the nearest police station to get the letter signed and stamped.

“These letters can then be used when passing through roadblocks. However, I would like to remind the public to only make the journey for pressing matters. Social visits should be put on hold for now,” he said.
