IPOH: Seven schools in Perak have been ordered to close for cleaning and disinfection procedure, says Razman Zakaria.
The state Education Committee chairman said the schools would be closed for seven days.
"Among the schools ordered to close are three schools in Taiping – SMK King Edward VII, SMK (P) Treacher Methodist and SK Convent Kota, and two schools in Kamunting - SMK Bukit Jana and SK Taman Jana.
"SK Lekir Batu 8 in Lekir and SK Ulu Mengkuang in Selama have also been ordered to close for the sanitation procedure," he said on Wednesday (Oct 14).
Prior to this on Oct 11, six schools in Larut Matang Selama district were closed following the Covid-19 cases reported in the area.
The schools SMK Bukit Jana, SMK (P) Treacher Methodist, SMK King Edward VII, SK Convent Kota, SK Ulu Mengkuang and SMK Taman Jaya were ordered to close for seven days beginning of Monday (Oct 12).
Razman said that parents and guardians should not panic.
"We urge everyone to follow the standard operating procedure by the National Safety Council and Health Ministry in order to break the Covid-19 chain," he said.
