A 68-year-old woman in Shanghai has been hitting the gym daily to keep herself fit, Sin Chew Daily reported.

Chen Ji Fang is adept at using the fitness equipment and has been performing various workout routines since 2018.

She handles the battling rope and barbells with seeming ease besides performing sit-ups and fitness boxing, displaying a commitment that can rival the young.

In an interview with Chinese media, Chen said she decided to hit the gym after finding out that she had fatty liver disease and high blood cholesterol levels during a check-up in 2018.“We can’t stop ageing. But we can slow down the process through fitness training.

“Instead of spending money on medicine and doctors’ appointment, I’d rather use my money to maintain my fitness, ” she said.

Chen said she did not miss a single gym session last year and her fitness level improved under her instructors’ guidance.

She said she started trying out more challenging fitness equipment and had shed 16.8kg in three months.

The sexagenarian is now in the pink of health.
