THE Are You the Master of Sustainability? board game created by the Sunway Education Group teaches people how to take care of the world we live in by acting responsibly so that the resources on our planet will be able to support many generations to come.
In this board game developed by Sunway University staff and students, players can learn more about the United Nations 17 Sustainable Development Goals (UNSDGs) which are an urgent call for us to come together and work towards achieving a better world.
The game is more about taking part than winning. It will introduce players to the UNSDGs in an engaging and interactive way coupled with the fun of the game play experience.
“This board game is designed to promote the adoption of the UNSDGs among young people through an interactive and fun learning experience, ” said Sunway Education Group chief executive officer Dr Elizabeth Lee.
“We have created this game in support of the Education Ministry’s efforts to integrate the UNSDGs into our national curriculum.
“To ensure that nobody is left behind, we have created this ‘old school’ board game so that anyone can play regardless of their technology or electricity access.
“We believe that greater knowledge regarding the UNSDGs will increase empathy and drive towards solving social and environmental issues, thus creating a new generation of leaders who will guide us through a more sustainable trajectory, ” she said.
The nature of the game is to expose people to some of the very latest key facts and figures that relate to the goals, while the “Did You Know” component of the game will ensure that valuable additional knowledge is imparted each time a question is asked.
Each player gets to hear every question, every fact and every answer that relates to the challenges faced in the achievement of the UNSDGs and the impact on people in the real world.
This is why taking part is far more important than the winning, as it is the aim that when the game is over, the real challenge begins.
Sunway Education Group hopes that with the board game players’ interest in the UNSDGs piqued, they will go on to hold key roles in assisting their own community and in helping the world achieve the said goals.
Among the recipents of the board game from Sunway Education Group are Health Ministry director-general Tan Sri Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah, Youth and Sports Ministry secretary-general Datuk M.
