KUALA LUMPUR: A 17-year-old motorcyclist died after colliding with a car driven by a man said to have been driving while intoxicated at Jalan Raja Laut.
Kuala Lumpur Traffic Investigation and Enforcement Department (JSPT) chief Asst Comm Zulkefly Yahya said the accident occurred when the driver of the Perodua Myvi, who was coming from Jalan Sri Amar, changed lane to go into Tiong Nam lane at about 3am on Monday (Sept 21).
"The motorcyclist who was driving straight along Jalan Raja Laut slammed into the front left side of the Myvi.
"The victim, a student at SMK Lembah Keramat, died at the scene to grievous head injury," he said when contacted on Tuesday (Sept 22).
ACP Zulkefly said the blood alcohol level of the Myvi driver was above the permitted limit.
"The 36-year-old man has been remanded for four days.
"We are investigating further," he added.
