KAJANG: A social media post claiming that the owner of a Mazda car managed to track down a cloned car with the same number plate as his has gone viral.
Police confirmed that the identical red Mazda6 found in Bangi was reported stolen.
“When our officers arrived at the scene, they found a locked red Mazda parked in a public parking spot, ” Kajang OCPD Asst Comm Mohd Zaid Hassan said in a statement yesterday.
He said checks revealed the car was using fake licence plates.
“Further investigation revealed the vehicle had been reported missing in Beserah, Pahang.
“We have taken the vehicle back to the Bandar Baru Bangi police station for further inspection, ” he said.
Facebook page Shidie Art Pelukis Rakyat uploaded three photos of two identical Mazdas bearing the same licence plates.
The post also claimed that the real owner from Johor was fed up of receiving mailed summonses for offences at places he had never been, and managed to track down the vehicle in Bangi.
