Cops fine twenty-six people in Kota Tinggi for not wearing face masks

KOTA TINGGI: The police here have fined 26 people RM1,000 for flouting the mandatory face mask directive on the first day of its enforcement.

Kota Tinggi OCPD Supt Hussin Zamora said the district’s task force handed out compounds to 26 people for failing to wear their face masks while enjoying their leisure time at the Batu Layar beach in Bayu Damai here between 3pm and 5pm on Saturday (Aug 1).

“During the enforcement operations, we noticed that they had failed to adhere to the Health Ministry’s standard operating procedure (SOP) and safety protocols.

“All of them were given a warning before a fine was handed out,” he added.

Supt Hussin said that the police would not hesitate to fine those who are found flouting the Covid-19 SOP or the mandatory mask ruling for the good of the public.
