THREE pupils from SJK (T) Taman Melawati made their school proud by winning a gold medal at the International Invention Innovation Competition (iCAN2020), Malaysia Nanban reported.

Yuvika Mahaganapathi, 10, Kavisha Nagarajan, 11, and Kailesh Saravanan, 11, were supposed to present their innovation in Toronto, Canada, but the event was eventually held online in view of the Covid-19 pandemic.

Thus, they presented their innovation of a soil testing tool through the Internet.

The tool allows users to determine the most suitable crops to be planted in the soil.

The students said they were inspired to develop the tool as the country is pushing for renewed development in farming.

Participants from about 50 countries took part in the competition.
