Free entry offer fails to draw the crowd

Slow recovery: Sabah’s popular ‘rumah terbalik’ in Tamparuli that drew thousands of visitors annually is now seeing a trickle of visitors since reopening on May 24.

KOTA KINABALU: Offering the first 20 visitors free entry into Sabah’s popular “rumah terbalik” (upside-down house) is not helping to jump-start tourism as the people remain cautious about going out.

The large crowd that usually makes a beeline to the unique house in Tamparuli, about 40km from here, only saw a trickle of visitors during the recent Hari Raya Aidilfitri and Harvest Festival holidays since it reopened on May 22.
