Man arrested for alleged house break-in in Simpang Renggam


SIMPANG RENGGAM: A local man was detained for allegedly breaking into a house at Jalan Berlian 25, Taman Renggam Jaya, near here on Monday (May 4).

Kluang OCPD Asst Comm Bahrin Mohd Noh said police received calls from members of the public that an intruder had entered the house at around 10.30pm.

“We immediately deployed our team from the Simpang Renggam police station and they arrived at the house at 10.45pm,’’ he said in a statement.

ACP Bahrin said the 38-year-old suspect was hiding under a bed in one of the rooms in the house and was eventually arrested by the police.

“Initial investigation showed the suspect has previous criminal records and drug-related offences,’’ he said.

The suspect has been remanded from May 5 to May 11, to assist with the investigation.

The case is being investigated under Section 457 of the Penal Code for lurking house-trespass or housebreaking by night in order to commit an offence punishable with imprisonment.
