PUTRAJAYA: Police are tracking down seven foreigners believed to have run away from a quarantine centre housed in an education institution in Kuala Lumpur, says Senior Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob.

He said in the meantime, the standard operating procedure will also be looked into to determine how the foreigners could have escaped, and to prevent future such incidents.

“This had happened before and the police managed to arrest the person. They are tracking the seven foreigners, ” he said in his daily briefing here on Wednesday (May 6).

According to reports, the foreigners’ disappearance was were noticed at around 10am on Monday (May 4) after the doctors in charge made their rounds examining patients under quarantine.

It is believed that those who ran away were Indonesians and Bangladeshis who were living with those suspected of having tested positive for Covid-19 at Selangor Mansion, Menara City One and Kampung Baru.

It is believed that the seven escaped men damaged the fence at the quarantine centre to make their escape.
