Extended operating hours for markets, transport services during Ramadan


PUTRAJAYA (Bernama): Public markets will be allowed to operate from 6am to 2pm in the month of Ramadan throughout the movement control order (MCO) period, an additional two hours compared to 6am to noon previously.

Senior Minister (Security Cluster) Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob said the government had also decided to allow public transport services to start operating an hour earlier, from 4pm to 10pm, compared to 5pm to 10pm before.

He said the leeway in operating hours is to assist Muslims to prepare to break fast during Ramadan.

"Throughout Ramadan, the SOP (standard operation procedure) for the MCO announced for all three phases still applies, ” he said in the daily media conference on the MCO here Thursday (April 23).

Muslims are expected to start observing the fasting month tomorrow (Friday).
