Only e-Bazaars allowed for now, says Ismail Sabri

PUTRAJAYA: E-Bazaars, where orders are made online and goods are delivered to buyers, are the only type of bazaars to be allowed this Ramadan, says Senior Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob.

He said this was discussed at the Cabinet meeting on Wednesday (April 15), which made the decision to only allow this type of "bazaar" for now.

"There are two other proposed concepts, which the Cabinet has asked the relevant authorities to study its concept and operations in detail," he said.

One of the concepts being proposed is to order before and pick up the goods at the stalls that will be set up at designated areas.

The other, said Ismail Sabri, is the drive-through concept where buyers can order and buy goods in situ.

"The Cabinet wants this to be looked into. Our concern in allowing these concepts is this will increase the number of cars on the road and people outside their homes," he said on the matter.

To a question, he said once the standard operating procedure is in place, states will be asked to follow the guidelines prepared by the National Security Council.

Ismail Sabri was asked on Perlis' decision to allow stalls to operate by the roadside during Ramadan.
