PETALING JAYA: There is no evidence that the use of disinfection box, chamber or tunnel is effective in curbing the spread of Covid-19, says the Health Ministry.

Health director-general Datuk Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said the duration of between 20 and 30 seconds would not be enough to disinfect effectively.

"The process does not get rid of the virus within the human body.

"Moreover, the chemicals might bring harm to our membrane mucosa like in the eyes or mouth," he told a press conference on Wednesday (April 15).

Based on that, the ministry would not recommend the use of any disinfection box, chamber, tunnel, booth, partition, or gate as part of efforts to curb the Covid-19 infection.
