PM wants GLCs to be more proactive in helping the rakyat in wake of Covid-19 pandemic


PUTRAJAYA: The Prime Minister wants government-linked companies (GLCs) to be more proactive in helping the people face challenges and difficulties in the wake of the Covid-19 pandemic.

Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin said GLCs should be role models to other corporations and industries, and inspire them to carry out their corporate social responsibility.

The Prime Minister said this at a video-conference with six of the country’s main GLCs to discuss issues related to the economy.

“The role of GLCs is crucial in assisting the government draft a comprehensive economic strategy for both during and after the movement control order (MCO), ” he said.

The meeting involved heads of six GLCs including EPF chief executive officer Tunku Alizakri Raja Alias, Permodalan Nasional Bhd chief executive officer Jalil Rasheed, and Khazanah Nasional Bhd managing director Datuk Shahril Ridza Ridzuan.

Others present were Kumpulan Wang Persaraan (KWAP) chief executive officer Syed Hamadah Othman, Armed Forces Fund Board (LTAT) chief executive officer Nik Amlizan Mohamed, and Tabung Haji chief executive officer Datuk Nik Mohd Hasyudeen Yusoff.
