KUALA LUMPUR: Eleven men who defied the movement control order (MCO) by jogging around Mont Kiara have been fined RM1,000 each in default of four weeks in jail by a Magistrate's Court here.
The men – British national Jamie Bubb Sacklyn, 28; Koreans Woo Yum Sik, 54, and Lee Jong Young, 50, Kwang Suk Lee, 51; Japanese Koichi Itano, 60, Tanakatohishiko, 61, Mitsuhiru Takayanagi, 51, Taichi Okubo, 36; Indian Vikram Beliappa, 48; and Malaysians S. K. Ramani, 56, and Au Yong Vooi Loon, 31 – pleaded guilty after the charges were read out before Magistrate Mohammad Aizat Abdul Rahim here on Tuesday (March 31).
They were charged with the violation of Rule 3(1) of the Prevention and Control of Infectious Diseases (Measures Within the Infected Local Areas) Regulations 2020 by moving around in Mont Kiara on March 29.
The charge carries a maximum fine of RM1,000 or six months imprisonment or both, if convicted.
According to the statement of facts, a team of police who patrolled the area around Jalan Kiara found the men jogging outside during enforcement of MCO.
Deputy Public Prosecutor Hanis Anisha Jamilludin prosecuted.
