IPOH: Only the emergency department and the observation ward of the Teluk Intan hospital has been closed for cleaning and disinfection purposes following the discovery that 37 medical staff had tested positive for Covid-19.
Health director-general Datuk Seri Noor Hisham Abdullah said the emergency department would be operating at the out-patient unit.
“Overall, the hospital is still operating like normal, ” he said in a statement posted on his Facebook page late on Wednesday (March 25).
A few news portals had reported that the hospital had been shut down following infection among the staff.
Prior to his Facebook post, Hisham had told a press conference in Putrajaya that once the disinfection exercise was done, doctors and nurses from other hospitals would be deployed to the hospital.
