Star Foundation to help frontliners

PETALING JAYA: The Star Foundation and Star Media Group Bhd are urging readers to join hands to support our medical frontliners in these challenging times. We are pledging RM1mil towards “Star Front Liners Initiative” to raise funds for the purchase of medical supplies for hospitals and medical staff who work round-the-clock to keep us safe.

“Malaysians have always been at the heart of what we do at Star Foundation, and providing financial aid for medical purposes is one of the ways we reach out to those in need.

“With the help of our readers, we have sponsored many medical surgeries in the last five years.

“Now, we want to do more. These are trying times but we can come out stronger if we stand together, ” said Star Media Group and Star Foundation chairman Datuk Fu Ah Kiow.

This, together with the funds raised, will be used to purchase medical supplies that will be donated to the Health Ministry.

Star Media Group CEO Andreas Vogiatzakis (pic below) said this is a way we can extend a helping hand to our frontliners from the safety of our homes.

“Our medical staff are battling Covid-19 at the front lines. As Malaysia’s preferred English news source, we want to support these heroes in any way possible, with the help of our readers. It is the least we can do.

“Through this initiative, let them know that they are not alone - the people are behind them, ” said Vogiatzakis.

Covid-19 has infected 1,624 persons while claiming 16 lives in Malaysia.

Donations can be made to Star Foundation-Medical Fund’s Public Bank account (31-9984-9230) via bank transfer, credit or debit cards.

For a tax exemption receipt to be issued, donors need to fill in the Medical Fund-Donation Form available on the website listed below.

Established in 2004, Star Foundation is the charitable arm of Star Media Group, and is aimed at delivering meaningful initiatives with lasting outcomes to a diverse group of beneficiaries.

The Medical Fund programme was started in 2015 to help individuals and families in dire need of financial aid and medical attention.
