Doctor, 48, becomes 9th victim to succumb to Covid-19


KANGAR: A doctor from Hospital Tuanku Fauziah (HTF) diagnosed with Covid-19 has passed away.

The 48-year-old doctor passed away at 10.33am on Sunday (March 22).

Health director-general Datuk Seri Noor Hisham Abdullah (pic) confirmed the case, saying that the total number of deaths due to Covid-19 in the country now stood at nine.

"The patient has a travel history to Turkey and arrived back in the country on March 8.

"He was then warded at the HTF on March 17 after showing symptoms of severe acute respiratory infection and was later confirmed positive Covid-19 on March 18.

"He has been on respiratory support since March 19 after his condition deteriorated, and eventually passed away at 10.33am today," said Noor Hisham in a statement.
