Time is money: New Finance Minister gets to work right after swearing-in ceremony

PUTRAJAYA: Newly-minted Finance Minister Datuk Seri Tengku Zafrul Tengku Abdul Aziz was among the first to clock into office after being sworn in.

He arrived at the ministry at around 6.10pm still in his black baju melayu attire, fresh from the swearing-in ceremony before the Yang di-Pertuan Agong at Istana Melawati on Tuesday (March 10).

Earlier in the day, he and five others were sworn in as Senators at the Dewan Negara.

Zafrul has 22 years of experience in the financial sector.

Prior to his resignation as the CIMB Group Holdings Bhd chief executive officer and executive director, Zafrul had worked in Maybank Investment Bank Bhd as chief executive officer; Citigroup Malaysia; Kenanga Holdings Bhd and Avenue Securities.

Zafrul, 46, graduated from the University of Bristol in the United Kingdom with a Bachelor of Science (Hons) Economics and Accounting.

He also holds a Master of Arts in Finance and Management from the University of Exeter.
