Wanita Umno wants Zahid in Cabinet line-up

PETALING JAYA: Umno president Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi should be included in the Perikatan Nasional Cabinet line-up, says Wanita Umno.

Its chief Datuk Dr Noraini Ahmad said Ahmad Zahid should still be included despite him offering not to be given a position in the Cabinet.

“This shows that the Umno leader is magnanimous, and all parties should emulate him.

“However, Wanita Umno feels that the Umno president should be in the Cabinet line-up for the party’s dignity and also to assist the Prime Minister in the matters of national governance,” said Noraini, who is also Parit Sulong MP, in a statement on Sunday (March 8).

On Saturday (March 7), Ahmad Zahid said that he would not be in the new Cabinet.

He said the new government must be clean and that opportunities must be given to individuals, who are charged in court, to clear their name.

Ahmad Zahid is facing 47 charges - 12 for criminal breach of trust, eight for corruption and 27 for money laundering - involving tens of millions of ringgit in funds belonging to Yayasan Akalbudi.
