Cosmetics businessman arrested over child abuse allegations

PETALING JAYA: A famous cosmetics entrepreneur has been detained in connection with allegations that he abused his adopted daughter, says Senior Asst Comm Datuk Fadzil Ahmat.

The Selangor CID chief said the suspect, known as "Datuk Alif", was detained on Thursday (March 5).

"He has since been released on police bail pending investigation," he said when contacted on Friday (March 6).

SAC Fadzil said police will also be calling witnesses to assist with the investigation.

"A police report was lodged against the suspect last Saturday (Feb 29).

“The 34-year-old Indonesian woman who lodged the report is the suspect's housekeeper.

“She claims in her report that the suspect had been abusing the two-year-old girl, ” he added.

The case has been categorised as child abuse under Section 31(1)(a) of the Child Act 2001.

It was reported earlier that a famous cosmetics entrepreneur hit his two-year-old adopted child in a bid to create content for his social media channel.

The incident reportedly occurred two months ago at the entrepreneur's residence here.

According to Berita Harian, the man slapped the two-year-old with his hand because he wanted to film the child crying to create content for his social media channel.

The daily added that a police report was made regarding the incident, with the complainant saying that the entrepreneur asked her to put the child in a shoe closet and join him in hitting her.

The complainant, however, said she refused as she was afraid the child would be hurt.

A police report pertaining to a child abuse case linking cosmetics entrepreneur Datuk Seri Aliff Syukri and his adopted daughter has been circulating online.

Aliff's Instagram account was also flooded with comments from people asking for an explanation.
