KOTA KINABALU: Keningau MP Datuk Dr Jeffrey Kitingan said his support for Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin as Prime Minister was to end the political turmoil engulfing the nation.
The Sabah STAR president said that he felt that Muhyiddin was the solution to the political "back and forth" taking place between Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad and PKR president Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim, which was creating too much uncertainty.
He claimed that the country "had lost billions of ringgit" with the political struggle between Anwar and Dr Mahathir.
"It was best to go with a new person so that the country could move on," he said when contacted on Sunday (March 1).
Jeffrey, who attended Muhyiddin's swearing-in ceremony at Istana Negara in Kuala Lumpur, wearing Kadazandusun headgear, said that he respected Muhyiddin and believed he was the best choice to lead Malaysia.
"I believe there will peace and stability under him," said Jeffrey.
Asked if he would be getting a ministerial position, he said; "I don't know, maybe later."
