Penang Botanic Gardens’ orchids in shameful state of neglect

Deserted: The Orchidarium in a sorry state after the orchids in it died being deprived of sunlight.

GEORGE TOWN: The wire mesh and brick cage-like Orchidarium at Penang Botanic Gardens has turned into an eyesore due to its poor upkeep.

A check by The Star found that the orchids died after the forest canopy above grew so large that the flowers were robbed of sunlight.
