AMPANG: The people should give a helping hand to the Prime Minister’s efforts to grow the national economy, says Datuk Seri Azmin Ali.
“Let’s stop all the politicking. Malaysians often talk about politics but let us all focus on developing the country and the economy.
“Let’s give strong support to Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad so he can lead us; and this year, when APEC takes place, Malaysia will emerge as a global player, ” he said in his speech at a Chinese New Year open house organised last night by Ampang MP Zuraida Kamaruddin, who is the Housing and Local Government Minister.
The Economic Affairs Minister said with the world faced with challenges due to the Covid-19 (novel coronavirus), Malaysia would not be spared from the ill effects.
He said it was fortunate that the government had taken proactive and effective measures to tackle the Covid-19 outbreak.
Azmin said the tourism industry together with the aviation and logistics sectors were already affected by the outbreak.
“The government will introduce an economic stimulus package soon to help these sectors, ” he added.
The minister said he was happy to see a multiracial gathering at the event, adding that this had always been Malaysia’s unique strength as a country.
He also said he was proud to see Malaysians rejecting hate politics and embracing peace, unity and harmony.
