Four Dungun polytechnic students feared drowned in Pantai Teluk Bidara


DUNGUN (Bernama): A happy outing for six Sultan Mizan Zainal Abidin Polytechnic (PSMZA) students ended in a tragedy when four of them were feared drowned in Pantai Teluk Bidara here.

In the incident at about 6.30pm on Friday (Jan 17), Muhamad Luqman Hakim Al Rashid Mohamed Sabarudin; Muhammad Zul Fahmi Zuki; Muhammad Ikhwan Ahmad Azhan; and Mohamad Amir Izzudin Zulkiflee, all aged 21 were said to be swimming at a rocky area when they slipped and were swept away by waves.

Terengganu Fire and Rescue Department Zone 2 head, Azman Alias said 14 firemen from the stations in Dungun, Chukai and Kuala Berang rushed to the location after receiving an emergency call at 6.33pm.

"Our personnel with the aid of an amphibian boat are conducting a search and rescue operation for the victims.

"The team is now combing the coastal area," he said. – Bernama
