KUALA LUMPUR: A quiet Saturday brunch was rudely interrupted when a car came crashing into a restaurant in Prima Setapak 3 here.
In the 11am incident on Saturday (Jan 11), Kuala Lumpur Traffic Chief Asst Comm Zulkefly Yahya said a white vehicle driven by a 76-year-old man had crashed into the restaurant.
He said one person was hit but there were no reports of serious injuries.
"We believe the driver had accidentally put the car in 'drive' instead of 'reverse' and accelerated, causing him to crash into the restaurant," he said, adding that the driver had some light injuries to his hands.
The case is being investigated under Rule 10 of the Road Traffic Rules.
The restaurant's management also made a Facebook post about the accident.
Despite the shock, the management posted a tongue-in-cheek reminder to its customers that although the restaurant accepted takeaway at one of its branches, it was not a drive-through.
