Civil servants to get special payment of RM500 on Dec 18

PUTRAJAYA: The special payment of RM500 for civil servants will be paid out on Dec 18, says the Finance Ministry.

It will benefit 1.5 million civil servants ranked Grade 56 and below and will cost the government RM1bil.

Finance Minister Lim Guan Eng said the payment is in appreciation for the contributions of civil servants in carrying out their responsibilities for the country and the people.

A special payment of RM250 will also be paid out to one million pensioners, including veterans and non-pensionable government retirees.

“The payment will be made before the end of the year and this, among others, will be able to help parents prepare the school needs of their children, ” Lim said in a statement Tuesday (Dec 10).

The special payment was announced during the tabling of Budget 2020 on Oct 11.
