Paul Yong claims Meru house was burgled

Two bars were cut off a window grille in Paul Yong's house, where he believes the burglars entered the house.

IPOH: The house of Paul Yong Choo Kiong was burgled, with two safe boxes and several documents stolen.

In a statement, the Perak executive council member said he was in Kuala Lumpur from Nov 22 to Dec 1 and is unsure when the break-in at his house in Meru near here actually took place.

He said the thieves would have had to climb over a 1.8m wall and cut through two window grilles to gain entry to the house.

Yong also said that all the bedrooms in the house were searched except the room of his former Indonesian maid.

He was charged with raping his maid in a Sessions Court here in August. His case is still on going.

Yong believed that those who broke into his house were familiar with the layout.

He adding that a police report has been lodged over the break-in.

"Two safe boxes, one in the master bedroom and another in the living room, containing important documents and valuables were stolen.

"I kept my property documents as well as my car grant inside the safe boxes. I need time to check what other documents have gone missing.

Yong said the thieves ignored his 60-inch television, other expensive items, as well as a high-powered motorcycle parked in the porch which keys were in the house.

Yong said his housing area was gated and guarded.

Attempts to get police confirmation of the incident are being made.
