Datuk Seri Dr Mujahid Yusof Rawa

PONTIAN: Pakatan Harapan will counter claims it failed to uphold and protect Islam during the Tanjung Piai by-election, says Datuk Seri Dr Mujahid Yusof Rawa.

The Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department for Religious Affairs said he expected these claims to surface during campaigning to win Malay support.

‘’So we’ll go all out to explain to the people what is exactly happening, ’’ he said after chairing a religious forum for hundreds of Kafa (religious) teachers and workers at Taman Negara Johor in Tanjung Piai here yesterday.

Mujahid, who is Amanah vice-president, said the outcome of the by-election was an important gauge of public support for the Federal Government amidst various claims against it.

‘’Like in previous by-elections, Amanah has activated all its service centres here. We will work together 100% to ensure Pakatan wins this seat, ’’ he said.

He added that Amanah had its strength here as Johor Speaker Suhaizan Kaiat is a local.

Mujahid also said that Pakatan was gaining ground and denied support had dropped due to the many national issues plaguing the coalition.

‘’I have confidence we can win this by-election and that will depend on how our machinery down there can convince the voters, ” he said.
