KUALA LUMPUR: Datuk Seri Najib Razak spent about an hour in Bukit Aman, where his statement in connection with an alleged defamatory statement was recorded.

The ex-prime minister is being probed over his Facebook post on Sept 30, in which he urged the government to act against Dewan Rakyat Deputy Speaker Nga Kor Ming over an allegedly seditious statement made against the Sultan of Selangor. The statement was apparently posted on the Nga Kor Ming Super Fans Page Facebook account.

Najib told reporters yesterday that he had cooperated fully with police.

“The police asked about my Facebook post and why I made it. I was also asked about my opinion on such posts, as well as on other matters, ” he said.

The Pekan MP, who left at about 12.40pm, said he was not required to return for further questioning.

Bukit Aman CID D5 (Prosecution and Legal division) principal assistant director Senior Asst Comm Mior Faridalatrash Wahid confirmed that the special investigation unit had recorded Najib’s statement. In a posting earlier, Najib claimed that Pakatan Harapan might be trying to close or block his Facebook page.

“The Selangor palace has lodged a report on Nga on the basis of sedition over a posting on the Selangor Sultan. Nga then lodged a police report saying I had defamed him, ” he added.

Prior to this, Nga, who is Teluk Intan MP and Perak DAP chairman, had urged police to investigate Najib’s Facebook page.
