PETALING JAYA: Nineteen policemen and a court official were among 47 people arrested by Bukit Aman in a raid at an entertainment outlet in Kuala Lumpur.
Bukit Aman’s Integrity and Standard Compliance Department (JIPS) arrested the group early yesterday.
“The raid was conducted with the Kuala Lumpur Narcotic Crimes Investigation Department around 1am at an entertainment outlet along Jalan Raja Chulan, ” said JIPS director Comm Datuk Zamri Yahya yesterday.
“Of the 47 detained, 19 were policemen and eight of them tested positive for drugs after they were directed to undergo urine tests.
“The other suspects included two civil servants, an assistant registrar and a soldier, ” he said.
The suspects were brought to Dang Wangi police headquarters for further investigations.
“JIPS will take disciplinary action against the 19 policemen for going against orders not to visit entertainment outlets as instructed by the Inspector-General of Police, ” he said.
Earlier this year, IGP Tan Sri Abdul Hamid Bador announced that policemen were barred from visiting entertainment and gaming outlets in an effort to reduce corruption within the force.
