Johor MB: Passing of MP Farid 'shocking' and a huge loss

PONTIAN: The sudden passing of Tanjung Piai MP Datuk Dr Md Farid Md Rafik is a huge loss to the country, says Johor Mentri Besar Datuk Dr Sahruddin Jamal (pic).

He said the news of Dr Md Farid's death was shocking as the Deputy Minister in the Prime Minister's Department in charge of Unity and Social Harmony was a good friend and respected by all.

"The state government is grieving over the death of Dr Md Farid, .and his demise is a huge loss not only to the rakyat in Johor but all over the country," he said in a Facebook post here on Saturday (Sept 21).

Dr Md Farid passed away at the Pontian Hospital from a heart attack at around 6am on Saturday morning. He was 43.

In the last general election, Dr Md Farid from Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia, a medical doctor, beat MCA Datuk Wee Jeck Seng and PAS Nordin Othman with a majority of 524 votes.
