PETALING JAYA: Perak PKR chief Farhash Wafa Salvador Rizal Mubarak (pic) has finally surrendered to the police in connection with a brawl in Ampang on Merdeka night.
Selangor CID chief Senior Asst Comm Fadzil Ahmat said Farhash was detained at the Ampang Jaya Police District Headquarters after he surrendered himself on Tuesday (Sept 10).
"He arrived at the police headquarters at about 10am. He was arrested two hours after that.
"Subsequently, Farhash was released on police bail at about 5pm," he said when contacted.
Farhash, who is also PKR president Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim's political secretary, had cooperated with the police in the process of wrapping up the investigation, he added.
"A urine test was also performed on the suspect and it came back negative for drugs.
"We will submit the investigation papers to the Attorney General's Chambers for further action," he said.
It was reported that Farhash said he would aid police in their investigations into the brawl on Aug 31 after he was made aware of a police report on the matter in which his brother was named but prior to today, he remained missing despite various calls by the police for him to surrender.
The fight on Aug 31 started when one man pushed another at a sports complex in Ampang. The management was, however, able to prevent the fight from escalating.
Unfortunately, the matter didn't end there. The two men met again at the venue's motorcycle parking lot and were later joined by 10 other men.
There, the victim was attacked with helmets, knives and chairs.
Selangor CID chief SAC Fadzil Ahmat had said the victim's friends tried their best to help but failed and the victim suffered injuries to his waist and genitals.
The case is being investigated under Section 148 of the Penal Code for possessing weapons or missiles at a riot.
